Your Brain Might Be
Keeping You in Pain

Not "it's all in your head." Your brain may just need clearer signals.

I've been a massage therapist for 15 years. Clinical massage therapy alone helped many of my clients, but some just couldn't get relief for more than a few days to a couple of weeks at a time.

I was one of them. For years, I had to be extremely diligent about foam rolling just to keep my own pain managed, and anyone who's foam rolled regularly knows how uncomfortable, sometimes painful, that practice can be.

When I found Applied Neuro, I went from foam rolling almost daily to maybe once a month, if at all.

It's a surprisingly simple routine once we figure out which drills actually work for your nervous system. No special equipment, no painful pressure, just targeted exercises that give your brain better information so it stops bracing against pain that no longer serves a purpose.

A Client's Experience

One client, an avid pickleball player, tripped and injured herself. Over the next seven months, she tried physical therapy, shockwave treatments, multiple chiropractors, and even energy healing.

After a single combined Massage and Applied Neuro session, she told me she felt better than she had in months.

Curious what that could feel like for your own pain?

How It Works

Your Brain Is Always Trying to Protect You

Applied Neurology helps your brain recalibrate how it perceives pain. That doesn't mean your pain is "just in your head," far from it. But the signals your brain receives from your eyes, joints, nerves, and balance system can amplify or dial down how much pain you actually feel.

If your brain is getting unclear or threatening input from those sensory systems, it may respond by creating pain, tension, or limiting your movement as a protective measure. Using targeted drills that stimulate vision, balance, touch, smell, or even taste, we give your brain clearer input. As a result, it starts to feel safer, and when the brain feels safe, it reduces those protective responses like pain or tightness.

Many clients, especially those dealing with stress, trauma, or ADHD, report feeling calmer and more focused almost immediately. That's because these drills can help shift your nervous system from a fight-or-flight state into a rest-and-digest state. Along with reducing pain, they often improve coordination and movement quality too.

Think of it like updating your brain's software: better input creates better output. The drills can look deceptively simple, but they can make a real difference in how you move, focus, and feel.

As a Standalone Session

Your first session includes an assessment, a set of targeted drills, and a re-assessment to see what's working. From there, we choose drills you can practice daily until your next visit. In-person sessions are held in my Westlake office. Virtual sessions are available over Zoom.

As a Massage Enhancement

One of my favorite ways to use Applied Neuro is at the start of a massage session, anywhere from 10 to 45 minutes depending on your areas of concern. If you'd like to try this combination, book a massage and note in your appointment that you're interested in Applied Neuro.
